I taught in the public schools for fifteen years. I worked in elementary, middle, and high schools outside of the Chicago area. I held until May 2018 a Georgia T-5, Master's level, certificate that included, but was not limited to, History, Geography, and Social Science. In addition to this, I also hold a BA in History from the University of Georgia. While teaching I worked with students from many backgrounds, proficiency in the English Language, and academic skill levels. I always stove to discover a student's methods of learning and designed lessons to meet those styles.

I believe students learn more effectively when they are participating in the lesson. When students can have questions answer to their satisfaction a lesson may move more slowly, however, mastery of the subject matter increases. This removes or lessens the need to reteach and allows future lessons to incorporate previously taught material so learning is like moving from one platform to another.

I assess the academic level of the student, design lesson to take advantage of knowledge already mastered, and proceed in a very mechanical fashion for sentence and paragraph construction yet a creative manner in topic composition.

I have an above average knowledge of American History and can help students understand and remember it better by making everyday life for people during a time period become real. Also some basic themes of society are always considered regardless of the time period such as geography, transportation, diet, technology, beliefs of people involved, and politics.

If there is a student who wants to learn and is willing to put forth the effort they can, please contact me.
