I'm Clara, a recent graduate of Dartmouth College currently working as an Applied Data Scientist. I majored in Government and double minored in Quantitative Social Sciences and Public Policy. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and worked as a tutor in Dartmouth's Writing Center for 3 years, and I also tutored students in Statistics and data visualization in R. I particularly enjoy working as a writing tutor, and I have a breadth of experience helping students learn how to improve their own writing, rather than simply editing papers for them.

In my job as an Applied Data Scientist, I use SQRL, R, and Python almost everyday and leverage my Statistics knowledge to analyze data and build predictive models. As I'm constantly using these skills, I feel very comfortable tutoring others in these subjects.

I primarily took courses in International Relations and Comparative Politics in college, as well as classes related to international public policy and foreign policy making. I graduated with High Honors in Government, indicating that I was a top student in the department who wrote an exemplary honors thesis my senior year. I have extensive research conducting political science research, as well as writing policy briefs and analyses, political theory papers, and thesis-driven papers critiquing theories in international politics.

My experience spans across various subject areas, and I love helping students work through tough material. During my years working as a tutor in Dartmouth's Writing Center, I developed a reputation of being incredibly patient and encouraging, and my depth of tutoring experience means that I know how to tailor a tutoring session to match a student's needs. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or if you're interested in scheduling a session!

R

R

I work as an Applied Data Scientist where I use R almost everyday to clean data, analyze large amounts of data, and produce data visualizations. I took courses in R during college, such as Data Visualization, and I applied these skills to my academic research. I also spent a summer at Harvard using R to clean and analyze data for data privacy research. I have R code on my GitHub account, cwang23, that demonstrates my skill level.

Fantastic Writing Tutor

Clara was organizational, helpful, caring, and patient. She was very patient and was very good at listening and interpreting my thoughts/concepts while writing the paper. Clara is brilliant. She is the best. Highly recommended, but don't let the word get out about this diamond in the rough.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Clara was very helpful in navigating the combination of R and SQL. She was a real resource in helping me deal with some work in my data visualization course.
