About Conshombia

Hi I'm Conshombia "Connie" for short. I graduated Suma Cum Laude from Savannah State University with a dual degree in Biology and Environmental Science (Premed Major) with a minor in Naval Science. I also hold two Masters and I am currently pursuing an MD at Saint James School of Medicine and a PhD at Walden University. It was my joy of learning that led one undergraduate professor to suggest for me to become a tutor. It was during this period that I discovered a joy for sharing my love for learning with others. After tutoring fellow classmates, I learned that I had a ability to simplify complex concepts for others. It was so enjoyable for me to see that moment when a concept became clear for another student. I found it was extremely satisfying to help fellow colleague understand a concept and it challenged me to learn the concept in multiple ways because each person learns differently.

During my basic sciences studies in medical school, i enjoyed the classroom environment and its atmosphere of learning, but some of my classmates did not share in this vision of understanding. This did not mean in any way that they were unable to understand the information; they just needed extra help. I again found myself in a position to help and I gave it without thought. Tutoring allowed me the opportunity to explain complex problems in a simple manner based on my understanding. It also showed me different avenues to explain concepts to people with a wide array of learning abilities. It is my belief that tutoring is an exchange between the student and the tutor where we both learn from the other. Thus, I have continued to tutor. My additional tutorial experience includes tutor/mentor at the Boys & Girls Club in Maryland, Tutoring varies subjects in medical school, and serving as a tutor/mentor/adviser for the Youth Groups at my church (Spirit of Faith Christian Center in Maryland).

Thus, let's begin a journey to experience the unknown to make it known. I can be easily reached and will quickly respond. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns or to set up a scheduled journey of learning.

At the Boys and Girls Center in the after school program many of these students were at risks kids. After tutoring many of them for a period of time, I was able to assist them in improving their failing grades in Math to A's and B's. Some of these students went on to qualify for the STEM program. I also experience this same result with students in the Youth Group at SOFCC in MD.

Graduating with honors in these science courses as well as being a proud member of Beta Beta Beta Science honor society. In addition, I have assisted in helping fellow classmates and colleagues successfully pass these courses when giving them the assistance of tutoring.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

The key to tutoring math is making the subject or content relatable to something that the person is interested in. Once the person can relate to math then the concepts of algebraic expression for deriving a solution becomes easy and fun. That is what I find easy to do when tutoring math to others. I make it fun!!

Anatomy

I've tutored Anatomy and Physiology in my undergraduate studies at Savannah State as a premed major as well as in medical school at Saint James School of Medicine.

Biology

I am a scholastic member of Beta Beta Beta, the biology honor society and I tutored biology throughout my undergraduate period for additional money for school supplies.

Elementary Math

I have over 10 years experience in tutoring Math to family and friends, including Elementary Math. Mathematical concepts in Finance, Budgeting, and Banking have been the core of my experience. It has been my experience that the key to teaching math is getting the person to believe in their own ability to comprehend.

English

I have completed several technical writing classes as well as English research classes for in preparation of completing my doctoral research and dissertation submission.

Genetics

Genetics is the main course that I tutored at Saint James School of Medicine. I have certificates and letters of appreciation for tutoring this course. In addition, I have taken Genetics in undergraduate school were I received an A as well as in Medical School where I received a B with honors.

Microbiology

I'm an approved tutor for Microbiology by Kaplan for USMLE Step 1 board prep for medical students in basic sciences.

Very knowledgeable about the school system

We really appreciated Connie's punctuality and ease of teaching. She reads my daughter very well and is not afraid to laugh and give creative examples. We hope to continue with her for as long as possible.
