I am from Somalia, where I grew up speaking Arabic and Somali. I later moved to Yemen where I did my undergraduate degree in Arabic and French Literature. While at Sana'a University, I tutored and translated Arabic for international students for a period of six years, through which I gained a lot of experience working with students and in understanding people from diverse backgrounds. Afterwards, I moved to the United States where I completed my Masters in Human Resource Management and certificates in other leadership and management topics, such as Diversity and Conflict resolution.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been speaking, reading and writing Arabic since I was 11 years old, so I have 36 years of Arabic experience. I lived in Yemen for 12 years where I conducted my education and work in Arabic and got a degree in Arabic as well. I have also tutored and translated Arabic for refugees and immigrants in Yemen.
