I graduated from Roosevelt University this May and now I'm the math tutor in Roosevelt. Besides, I'm an instructor in a math supplementary school teaching kids math in grade pre-k to high school.
I feel happy when tutee can understand and solve the questions in my way. The way means when I see a question, how I'll analyze it and what I'll do the next. But I feel more satisfying when they can't understand my way and I find another way they can solve problem easier. I think this is the best part of teaching.
My master degree is mathematics, actuarial science concentration. So far, I have passed two actuarial exams: P and FM. I'm now working on my third exam. During my study and my preparation of my exam, I have learned broad math knowledge. I'm good at tutoring probability, statistics and calculus.
My goal of each session is to help student understand the material rather than feeling afraid of them. Assignment is optional when student couldn't catch up with the schedule.

Chan-Chih was on time, and we were able to get right to the lesson. I brought some practice questions which I sent to him prior to our meeting. It was obvious that he took the time to look them over before our session. He is very efficient and has great explanations about the problems. He is super patient and polite. I definitely recommend him for math. He will let you known beforehand, if he can help you with the specified math.
I really have learned a lot of things today, I understood the annuities which were difficult for me before. He tought me how to solve a different kind of problems.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
