About Tayseer

I see tutoring as the bridge between student and teacher. In today's education system, the classroom is a place to get as much information out to the students as possible. This can be an amazing thing as long as the students can keep up. It's very tough to recover if they can't. That's where I want to help. Making sure a student doesn't get overwhelmed and stays on track is very important to me and is something I can relate to.

In high school and middle school, I often finished classroom assignments early and was asked to help out other students. I feel a responsibility to make sure that everyone is able to compete in today's fast-paced education. After struggles and frustration with homework, there's nothing more relieving than that light bulb finally going off in your head. I hope I can bring that to you!

Math really began to click for me when I started taking algebra. That year I had top math scores in my class and ranked highly in math competitions. My ACT scores were also in the top 2% nationally. Fast forward to today, and while I still enjoy the math I do in college, I would love to share the understanding I had in those subjects.

I'm a baseball junkie. I like the stats, but I love the physics and psychology. I spend a good amount of time learning the game and studying mechanics. One of my favorite pastimes is to watch experts and coaches discuss how to make small tweaks that have large results. I was an assistant coach for my brother's little league team for a few years, but my favorite baseball tutoring memory was when he was struggling to make a certain play so we worked on it together. That night, he made that exact play TWICE and ended up winning the championship!

If you need someone who can help you learn at your pace and be an understanding mentor, I'm your guy. My hours are extremely flexible, generally any time between 11am-11pm on weekdays. Let me know when you're ready to get started!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I received an ACT English score in the top 1% multiple times. I have practice exams available, as well as tips from ACT classes I took in high school. I also have some personal experiences (both negative and positive) to help prepare with more than just the actual questions on the exam.

ACT Math

I achieved a top 2 percentile math score on the ACT multiple times (as well as top 1%)

ACT Reading

I received an ACT Reading score in the top 5% multiple times. I have practice exams available, as well as tips from ACT classes I took in high school. I also have some personal experiences (both negative and positive) to help prepare with more than just the actual questions on the exam.

ACT Science

I received an ACT Science score in the top 5% multiple times. I have practice exams available, as well as tips from ACT classes I took in high school. I also have some personal experiences (both negative and positive) to help prepare with more than just the actual questions on the exam.

Algebra 1

I took a high school Algebra course in 8th grade and received top scores in the class. That year I also placed in the top 5 in multiple math competitions (that focused on algebra). Algebra is my favorite subject of all time and I would like to help students reach their potential in that category.

AutoCAD

I took two semesters of AutoCAD in high school and received college credit for them. I placed 1st in a sectional competition for Introductory CAD and 2nd in the state competition in 2014. I regularly finished my assignments ahead of time and used the extra time to help classmates catch up. I like to give the student a starting point and the keys to work through the problem, and then see how far they can go on their own. Then, I walk them through the rest of the problem and review to make sure they follow. I also used AutoSketch (a similar program from AutoDesk) for three years in a summer job for an engineering company.

Baseball

I played baseball competitively from the age of 7-16 and was an assistant coach for a little league team during high school. I spend a lot of my free time watching baseball, as well as learning mechanics and sports psychology from online coaches and experts. While I would not consider myself qualified to teach a high-level high school athlete, I do know how to engage younger athletes in an enjoyable manner that with still help them improve. Love of the game is important at a younger age and is something I want to encourage while teaching skills.

Basketball

I have played basketball competitively for the last 10 years and practice regularly throughout the year. I learn from experts and high level coaches online and know how to work with a player's biomechanics (on a basic level) to create shooting form tailored to their natural motions. I like to use drills created by those coaches; the drills are designed for in-game success and not just flashy skills that only work in 1-on-1. Note: I am short and would work best with backcourt players, either middle-school or younger, or beginners/intermediate players of any age.
