As a tutor with several thousand hours under my belt, I have experience working with a diverse array of learning styles, ages, and disabilities. As a tutor with several thousand hours under my belt, I have experience working with a diverse array of learning styles, ages, and disabilities. While everyone has their own learning style and thus approaches must be tailored to each student, I strongly believe in learning through understanding the concepts behind the material, followed by struggling through proper examples. I find this approach balances both conceptual and practical knowledge, and helps students retain the material effectively.

My teaching style varies by student, but I strive for learning to be both efficient and effective. I believe in students learning at their own pace in the way that works best for them, but learning in a way that allows them to save time and retain the maximum amount of information. I have always had a passion for taking exams and have learned countless tips and tricks aside from learning the actual exam material that has proven invaluable to my many students over a dozen years as a tutor.

I currently work as a machine learning engineering manager for a large health insurance corporation supporting actuarial work. I have several years of experience in a professional environment applying these skills. My strengths lie in tutoring a broad array of machine learning, data science, and computer science disciplines. I am a fully credentialed actuary in the Society of Actuaries (FSA, MAAA) and have been tutoring each exam since its respective completion. I received my undergraduate degree in Neuroscience, so I feel I have a very well-rounded background and can be effective at teaching a broad spectrum of subjects.

Andrew really knows Python and also knows how to interpret and apply Python to solve difficult data science problems. He is actually extremely quick at it too! His demeanor is very pleasant, kind and patient and seems to enjoy teaching others. What more can I say except I really believe he is gifted, a genius!
