My love of teaching comes from my parents, both were teachers and instilled in me the fire to keep learning and to share my knowledge with others. I am a licensed teacher and have a Bachelors degree in computer information systems, masters degree in elementary education, special education endorsement, and I'm currently working on a second Masters in early childhood education.
It is my goal to combine my range of experience with my ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent teacher who will make a positive contribution to your child's education. To accomplish this goal I believe in creating a love of learning in each student so they can develop into creative, lifelong learners. In the lower grade levels I use play-doh, dry erase sentence strips, and cut out individual letters of spelling/sight words to help the students with letter/word recognition. I feel older students would benefit from the cut up letters for spelling practice and the use of the dry erase sentence strips. These are just a few of the ideas I have that will help improve the reading level and comprehension of the students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
