Hi everyone!

My educational philosophy is that the most important job of a tutor is not to teach facts. It is to teach the student HOW TO LEARN the facts for themselves and how to INCORPORATE those facts into their knowledge base. A strong foundational approach is essential as preparation for the standardized testing that your child will face as they look forward to the college application process. My strong multi-disciplinary background and experience with the college application process lends itself to such an approach.

I have a Bachelor's degree with majors in Physics, Chemistry, and Biochemistry and a minor in Political Science. I have work experience in the fields of biochemistry and immunology, but currently am finishing my PhD in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on bio-mechanics. So, I definitely use my background in physics and math on a daily basis.

I was a National Merit Scholar, a Singer Scholar, a Foote Fellow, and a UM Graduate Fellow. I received a 2370 on the SAT, a 35 on the ACT, and a 5 in 13 AP classes that I took in high school across the sciences, social sciences, languages, and mathematics. Having lived in Miami for 9 years, I am fluent in conversational Spanish, but I also have a strong foundation in the formal structure of the language as well. I have worked as a teaching assistant at the University of Miami, as well as conducted private tutoring lessons ever since I was a high school student myself.

I have recently moved to Chicago and am excited to begin tutoring in this wonderful new city. I hope to hear from many of you soon so we can arrange to begin working together.

Mastery of Chemistry!

Eric discussed concepts related to acid-base Titration. We also reviewed concepts of stoichiometry and chemical reactions. He was instrumental in conducting a lab that was error prone.

Michele, 1 lesson with Eric

Great to work with - Very clear and knowledgeable

Excellent tutor! Eric has been tutoring my daughter in physics and we are already beginning to see an improvement in her comprehension and ability to work with the material. Her self esteem in the subject has taken a huge boost! Eric explains difficult concepts and problems clearly, really works with the student to identify their learning and comprehension style, and teaches them to apply their newly developed knowledge through practicing problems and concepts. Eric is really a very great tutor!

Melissa, 6 lessons with Eric

incredibly knowledgable and patient

Eric help my daughter with several difficult concepts she was struggling with in her Honors Physics class. He explained the information in a manner that she was able to understand.

Carolyn, 1 lesson with Eric

Flexible and helpful tutor

Eric made my son feel very comfortable with strategies for taking the ACT. He was confident with his performance on the test and we anticipate an increase in scores over his practice test last year.

Karen, 2 lessons with Eric

Very knowledgable, patient and fun

Eric knows math! He is great at explaining the various concepts succinctly and in a way you can understand. He was able to show us how to easily solve a word problem in a few steps that the whole family had struggled with previously. He gave a very good overview of the math still to come over the next school years. Both my daughters liked him and are looking forward to their next lesson.
