My passion for teaching stems from a passion for learning. As class valedictorian in high school and graduating in the top of my class at Michigan State University, I take academics to great heights. One of the most important things I have learned in my life-long pursuit of education is that you not only need to have a passion for learning, but you also need the tools to help you succeed at it.
I specialize in tutoring English, Reading, Literature, Photography, and Art History. Back when I was a graduate student, I worked as a teaching assistant, where I helped instruct the history of photography courses to undergraduates. I ran classes and graded papers, and I taught my students not only to have an appreciation for art, but how to write about it as well!
With every lesson I try to keep my student challenged, but not overwhelmed. I'm great at gauging where a student is, and am able to adjust accordingly. I also try to keep lessons fun, as I have found through my experience a little fun goes a long way when trying to learn!
My availability is flexible, so feel free to contact me with your preferred session times.
I earned my BA in English from Michigan State University, with a concentration in creative writing. I also am the proud recipient of a MFA in Photography, which is considered to be an "academic" pursuit, which involves high prowess in reading comprehension, analysis, and writing.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you have. I look forward to learning together! My passion for teaching stems from a passion for learning. Danielle's listening skills are superb! Danielle took tremendous time and care to understand what my goals are in photography. I am looking forward to learning more from Danielle's vast knowledge of photography and Photoshop!
Great help instruction on camera basics and very nice personality. Had a good learning experience. May follow-up with additional lesson(s). Thank you Danielle.
Between the easily understandable explanations and hands-on practice examples, I felt like I was already making significant progress even after the first session.
My daughter enjoyed her lesson with Danielle. She found the organizational ideas like breaking things down into smaller components, very useful for her larger multi-part assignments. Brody was confident & positive afterward in discussing what she learned from Danielle with me. A marked improvement in her behavior in just one lesson. She is looking forward to continuing her tutoring lessons next week. Thank you, Danielle!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach Photoshop as I have a bachelor's degree in studio arts, where I concentrated in photography. I have been using Photoshop for nearly a decade, and I have taught the program to people in the past.
I am qualified to tutor drawing because of my Bachelor's of Fine Art degree in Studio Arts. When obtaining the degree I had to take numerous drawing classes and learned skills which helped me draw from real life. In each of my drawing courses I received a 4.0, or an "A." My work was used as an example for my peers frequently, and a few of my drawings have been exhibited in galleries. I know the techniques that can assist someone learning how to draw.
I am qualified to tutor painting because of my Bachelor's of Fine Art degree in Studio Arts. When obtaining the degree I had to take numerous painting classes and learned skills which helped me paint from real life. In each of my painting courses I received a 4.0, or an "A." Painting was also my second specialization, so I had to learn the ins-and-outs of painting with oils and acrylics.
I am qualified to tutor in this subject because I have a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Studio Art, with a specialization in photography. I am also currently pursuing a MFA in photography at a top-ten institution, and my photography has won numerous awards and has been on exhibition around the United States.
I am qualified to tutor writing because I have a bachelor's degree in English. While in undergrad I specialized in writing, so I have much experience in not only writing academic essays, but also creative writing. I am currently obtaining a master's degree, where writing well is a requirement. I also teach undergraduate students in art history courses, and I aid them in writing their essays.
