About Morgan

Over the past thirteen years, I have been a high school English teacher, program coordinator, and ACT prep instructor, and I enjoy all aspects of my work- strengthening writing skills, increasing analysis skills, and raising standardized test scores. I love seeing students' pride and increased confidence as their grades and scores rise- and this confidence leads to even higher levels of achievement!

To best serve students, I begin with a diagnostic assessment to assess students' strengths and weaknesses. I also have an opening conversation with all students I work with to have them express what areas they want help in and why they feel they need help. I use this information to craft lessons that meet each student at their current level of performance and push them to higher levels.

I have attended numerous professional development trainings totaling over 500 hours in my time teaching in order to better my practice and best assist students. I truly love what I do and look forward to helping you achieve your goals.

While I am a high school teacher, I work with all levels of students and adults. I look forward to helping you reach your goals too!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Reading

I have worked as a high school English teacher and program coordinator for the past 13 years. Over these years, I have also taught numerous ACT preparation courses, requiring I successfully complete 20 + hours of professional development.

My job requires I plan curriculum and implement lessons to raise student scores and achievement. I utilize these skills while tutoring as well. I begin with a conversation with the student and parent about goals and administer a skills-assessment test. I use this information to plan dynamic lessons to advance student achievement.

Literature

I have worked as a high school English teacher and program coordinator for the past 13 years. I work with a team of teachers to guide our literature selections, drawing high quality works from throughout the world and throughout different time periods to provide my students with a rich literary and cultural appreciation of the world. I have a vast knowledge of the "classics" as well as contemporary literary works. I enjoy helping students make connections between our world and the novels' themes.

Proofreading

I have worked as a high school English teacher and program coordinator for the past 13 years. Over these years, I have worked in an accelerated program, with students completing college-level writings. As a teacher and coordinator, I review many essays and spend a great deal of time proofreading and providing feedback to students to best improve their chances at high scores and college admissions.
