I am a licensed elementary teacher specializing in math and reading tutoring for learners in grades K-3.
My teaching philosophy is based on structured inquiry-based learning. My goal as an educator is to begin with questions and discover the answers with my students, using standards, objectives, and scaffolding to facilitate our solutions.
Math: I have taught and tutored math for students in grades K-5. My curriculum incorporates differentiated instruction to meet all learners at their developmental levels. I will help your child learn new math skills by applying them to real-world scenarios, and also by having a little fun. I especially love helping students overcome their math phobia, and helping them grow to love numbers and all the magical things we can do with them.
Reading: I have taught and tutored reading for students in grades K-5. I have experience differentiating learning so that all learners, regardless of their reading level, can grow. For children just beginning their reading journey, we will emphasize decoding, fluency, and comprehension strategies. We can also focus on sight words, spelling, and writing, depending on your child's needs. Many of my students are reluctant readers, and I take joy in finding ways to make them confident in their abilities.
In addition to teaching, I have a professional background in writing math and reading curriculum. I obtained my master's in elementary education from Roosevelt University, and I also have a bachelor's degree in English and creative writing from Loyola University Chicago.
My teaching license is for K-9 general education, including all classroom subjects. I have classroom and intervention teaching experience in Chicago public and charter schools. I have experience working with students with ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, language processing disorder, and dyslexia.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions about my skills and experience. I look forward to hearing from you and creating a plan for helping your child succeed! I am a licensed elementary teacher specializing in math and reading tutoring for learners in grades K-3.

Robyn came in ready and had all she needed to work with my son. As the first session I'm pleased to say she worked with him every minute and payed attention to every move with him. She interacted so well with him that I heard him laugh and have fun at the same time. She's great with kids and very knowledgeable.
Thank you so much, Nancy. I look forward to continue working with you and your son.
Robyn was prepared with games, strategies, and ideas to assess our daughters skill level and how best to help her move forward. She was patient and kind. We are excited about having Robyn helping our daughter feel confident and empowered in her math skills.
Thank you, Vesna. I look forward to helping your daughter over the summer.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
