About Michele

I have been an certified educator for a long time and have had experience with children of all ages. I currently hold a Type 03 teaching certificate that allows me to teach students in grades K-9. I also have two endorsements for social sciences and middle school. With these credentials it allows me to be able to reach a wide range of students.

Being able to reach your students is a key factor in helping them to be successful. I truly know getting to know a student is helpful in helping a student do better or improve. Knowing where a student is academically as well as emotionally will help in reaching goals. Some students just need the motivation to do better. Whatever the issue is I will be dedicated to making a difference.

My experience makes me an outstanding tutor for elementary students k-6. Let's make learning fun and engaging!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

or the past three years I have worked with students with special needs. Many of the students I have worked with have an IEP (Individual Educational Plan) where they have been identified as having ADD/ADHD. My role as a paraprofessional allows me to work first hand with students having many disabilities. Also being a classroom teacher for many years I have had to work with children that have been diagnosed as having ADD/ADHD. Working with these diverse learners takes a lot of patience and consistency. I have the experience that allows me to work with these students.

Common Core

I am very familiar with Common Core Standards. As a classroom teacher in Illinois one has to become familiar with them and use them to guide lessons. I've been working with Common Core Standards since 2010 for grades K-8.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a current Type O3 teaching certificate that verifies that I am qualified to teach grades K-9. I have also had over 20 years of teaching experience.

Handwriting

I have been an educator for 20 years plus. Handwriting is really introduced in third grade.
I have been a third grade classroom teacher several times. Handwriting was important in this grade and I am familiar with the process.

Reading

I have helped many students reach their Reading NWEA goals as well as surpass their goals

Spelling

As a classroom teacher I am familiar with Language Arts and Spelling falls under that category. I know ways to make learning fun and educational.

Study Skills

I have been an educator since 1993 and I have have worked with students in grades K-8. Study skills are skills that are reinforced throughout the school year. A successful student has good study skills and these skills are imperative for future success.
