My name is Juliane and I'm enrolled in the reading specialist program at St. Xavier seeking professional development in literacy. I graduated from Lewis University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary and special education in December 2009. With my type 10 certification, I also hold an LBSI endorsement, which has enabled me to experience working with a wide range of learners in both elementary and high school settings. Due to the diverse experiences I have encountered, I realize that I truly love educating students of all ages. Throughout my life, I have had a passion for working with people of different needs and ability levels, which is reflected in both my career endeavors and volunteer work. I worked as a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools for the last 6 years.
I am currently enrolled at the University of Chicago in a mathematics program. I meet with other teachers every week for 3 hours to review strategies that are beneficial for students.
I am currently enrolled at St. Xavier in order to become a Reading Specialist. My students' reading data is above grade level and I have worked hard to drive instruction to make sure that they meet their individual goals as well as our school's goals.
I piloted the CCSS at my school 6 years ago when it was not mandated in Chicago Public Schools. I have taught a variety of grade levels and truly understand the vertical alignment the standards have between each grade level.
I have been an elementary school teacher for 6 years. I have experience teaching mathematics, reading, science, and social studies at these grades.
I have experience working as a Special Education teacher for 3 years. I have worked with a variety of learners with diverse learning needs. I am very patient.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a licensed educator for the past 7 years. I piloted the CCSS at my school when it was not mandated by the Illinois Board of Education. I currently align the CCSS to my lesson plans that I implement in my own classroom. I have experience teaching all core subjects that are aligned to the CCSS.
