University of Illinois at Chicago (Criminology, law, and justice)
I am a rising senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I major in criminology, law, and justice. I have never tutored professionally before, but I have tutored numerous classmates since high school, and really enjoy it. When I was in elementary and grammar school, I struggled with certain subjects and utilized the help of tutors. I know how frustrating it can be when you are struggling with a subject, and I know how it feels when you are working with the right tutor, and finally able to succeed at the assignment at hand.
My high school put a very strong emphasis on writing, and I had several great English teachers who really taught me how to not only write well, but enjoy writing. I have writing experience in several subjects (philosophy, history, sociology, criminology, business), and know what a tough, but vitally important skill writing is.
I have used Microsoft Office programs for many years, and have a strong knowledge of how to use them for many different tasks. I recently took a course called Intro to Management Information Systems, where I improved my skills in these programs even further. In the past, I have tutored a few adults on how to use the computer, as well as Microsoft Office.
As a criminology, law, and justice major, I have experience in many aspects of the subject. I have a strong knowledge of topics covered in intro criminal justice courses, such as crime measurement, courts, policing, etc., as well as more advanced topics like criminological theories and the origination of laws and social control practices.
