About Douglas

I have experience tutoring students at Michelle Clark high school in Chicago, IL. I am also currently using Slader to connect with students seeking help with their math and science studies. Tutoring math has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember and I never miss an opportunity to help someone achieve that "Ah Ha!" moment. I've tutored anyone from elementary school to well past college, basically anyone who seeks help. I just love math and helping people to see that it's not so bad!

As a student who has always that an influential person in my life who took interest in my education and helped me along the way, I strive to be that some person for whomever I tutor. Whether you are a freshman in high school struggling through Algebra 1 (trust me, you aren't alone), or an adult learner who has been out of school for a while but is returning to pursue something you've always wanted to pursue, we ALL need that someone who helps us see the light at the end of the tunnel. That is what I love most about tutoring.

I have excelled in math since I began school. It has always come naturally to me and usually I pick up the concepts and principles pretty quickly and I am then able to teach it to someone else. That is how I truly to my competency. Also, I am always refining my skills and learning more things as well as keeping my abilities sharp through the use of tools like Khan Academy.

I would say that if you are looking for a tutor who is not only excellent at what he does and have a true zeal and passion for helping you achieve your educational goals, but who is also very patient and encouraging with the process while making fun, then I am your guy! I am here for you!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Douglas is the best! He knows his stuff and was so good at explaining calculus. He goes step by step and makes sure you understand before moving on! I recommend him to anyone who feels like calculus or any math in general is a struggle. He makes learning fun
