##### About Dana

"I have no particular talent. I am merely Inquisitive"- Albert Einstein.

On aspect of my teaching career that I pride myself on is striving to find the perfect way to teach each student. Differentiation in the classroom is key! Students learn and retain information in different ways, finding each students learning style then presenting them information in the way in which they will learn best is key.

When I went back to school for my masters, I made sure to get endorsed in Special Education, not so that I could teach Special Ed per say, but so I could strengthen the way I teach my general education classroom. Modifying and changing one lesson to reach all students is the best way to tap into the full potential of knowledge in the room.

My goal for each session is to engage the student so they want to work through challenging work. While I will leave practice work, I will not assign homework unless specifically requested. I will assess each session with an exit ticket of the skills practiced and use that to drive my instruction for the next session.

My availability will be limited to Thursday Nights, Saturday Mornings, and Sunday Mornings until June as I teach full time. In the summer my hours will be much more flexible, but I still prefer to work in the mornings!

I look forward to meeting you and helping you work towards your goals!

I have worked with a variety of ages from kinder-4th grade in whole group, small group, and one-to-one settings to work on math skills. I took 4 semesters of teaching math in undergrad where I learned to not only teach students math skills but push them to explain their thinking behind the solving of the problem.

I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade and 3rd grade ELA in both Milwaukee Public Schools and Chicago Public Schools. I have a background working with diverse populations as well as making content reachable for all skill levels in a classroom. My passion is teaching students how to read, how to think about reading, and how to write about reading!
