About Marcin

I was a physics and calculus tutor at the University of South Florida as an undergraduate; where I helped hundreds of students improve their grades, learn study techniques, or just simply coached them through a tough question or concept. I love helping people learn about physics and develop their critical thinking skills, and being a tutor lets me do that while simultaneously being a part of the physics and math community.

The goal of any session with me is for the student to learn how to think through the problems themselves. I do this by using the Socratic method. Instead of giving a solution to a problem, I'll ask the student leading questions to probe them in the right direction. The process of how to think through a problem is what I value much more than simply having the correct answer.

I am generally available 7 days a week and will work with you to find a time that works best for both of us.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you appreciate the power of education!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Calculus

I worked as a calculus tutor at the University of South Florida Academic Success Center for a year. I tutored all of calculus ranging from simple derivatives all the way up to multivariable calculus. I also used calculus everyday while studying for a Physics Bachelor's, which you may know is a very math intensive degree.

Differential Equations

My most direct qualification for differential equations involve two classes; Differential Equations and Mathematical Methods of Physics. Every upper level physics classes uses differential equations and I took these classes to understand the many methods of solving differential equations to help in my physics classes. I received A's in both of these classes and found the information to be beneficial to the rest of my education.

MATLAB

I did my undergraduate research in MATLAB. My project was to design a random aperture to produce a desired diffraction pattern in the Fresnel region. I have also used MATLAB for various physics laboratory classes for a year and a half. I am familiar with most, if not all, of the basic functions of MATLAB and can help either produce calculations or design graphs and other presentation materials.

Physics

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Physics. I have worked as a Physics tutor at the University of South Florida Academic Success Center for a year. I have tutored a variety of physics classes ranging from conceptual physics to General Physics II and all in-between.

Calm and Patient

My daughter is just so thrilled because she is really starting to understand her Trig homework. Marcin has been very patient and has been able to explain so she gets it.
