About Claire

My name is Claire,
I graduated from SAIC last spring. I received a Goldman Sachs Fellowship for achievements in fine arts, I was on the Dean's List and accepted into the advanced department of sculpture, recognized as a student leader, and received other merit scholarships based on my portfolio.
I have shown work at the International Museum of Surgical Science, the Sullivan Galleries, and other independent Chicago galleries. I have worked for professional galleries and assisting professional artists in fine art creation.

I was a student leader in Intervarsity Christian fellowship, leading weekly group study on reading and contextualizing scripture. Over the years I have participated in many seminars and training retreats specializing in Biblical cultural history, and understanding scripture.

I have taken in-depth courses focusing on music from the pre/renaissance period through the romantic and baroque and the history of sound art after John Cage. I have trained in harp, theory, and chorale performance since childhood.

I have a BFA in studio art from SAIC which included a minor in art history. I have studied in many areas of art such as film, photography, sound editing and production, painting, life drawing, sculpture, woodworking, metalworking, moldmaking and casting, ceramics chemistry, fashion design and construction. My areas of academic study included art history (from art of the ancient world, renaissance, modern, contemporary), French literature, ecology, Chicago architecture, music history, abnormal psychology, and analysis of Shakespeare.

Feel free to contact me and let me know what area of tutoring is needed. I am available on most weekends and evenings, my schedule is flexible and can potentially work around your schedule. I am able to commute to the student provided they are accessible by CTA.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I completed my early education at a private non-denominational Christian academy which included study in scripture and biblical histories. For three years I was a student leader in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship participating in training seminars and leading group studies in interpreting scripture. I am experienced in researching cultural history behind scripture and applying it contextually to passages.

Drawing

My degree is in studio arts. I specialized in 3d as well as 2d art. I have taken multiple courses in techniques and life drawing.

Painting

I graduated from SAIC last spring. Part of my education was focused in 2d fine art and I have trained in painting techniques and color theory. I have a good eye for composition. I am also experienced with demonstrating painting techniques with oil, watercolor, and acrylic to more inexperienced painters.
