I am a fifth year teacher who LOVES teaching and learning. I have extensive experience teaching guided reading and writing. Mathematics is another area I can assist your child. Guided reading/writing lessons, specifically tailored to your child's needs, are the perfect way to prevent summer slide or help them reach grade level before the next school year starts.
Phonics, comprehension, and fluency are all important reading components that can be covered. Problem solving and fluency in math are skills required to keep your student confident. I am very familiar with state standards/Common Core and will work with you and your child to pinpoint their areas of need. Most importantly, learning should be fun! I will always be sure that your child's interest level is high and they look forward to our sessions.
I've been trained in Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading, Lucy Caulkins Writer's and Reader's Workshop, Marzano's Six Step Vocabulary, and Level Literacy Intervention.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
