About Edgar

Hello,
My name is Edgar. I am a chemist who is currently working on his master's degree. I teach undergrads as a Grad Assistant and I enjoy chemistry, physics and math (especially calculus). In my spare time I enjoy cooking and reading. I have worked in the chemical industry, so if anyone has any S.T.E.M. questions I would be more than happy to answer them. I am very friendly and easygoing and would like to help you with any science or math courses you are taking.

I have taken courses in differential calculus, integral calculus and multi variable calculus as well as discrete math and differential equations while in my undergraduate studies.

I have experience teaching undergraduate students chemistry across all levels and I enjoy helping students understand science and math. I think it's a great accomplishment and a great feeling is when you can see someone overcome their fear and stress about science and math courses. I really enjoy helping people and hope that my knowledge and experience in S.T.E.M. can be of help to you.

Best of luck in your endeavors.
- Edgar

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

Courses taught
General chemistry I,II and III
Organic Chemistry I and II

Differential Equations

I have taken ordinary differential equations while getting my math minor. Differential equations is also a very powerful tool for applied science courses. Instead of memorizing equations you can use differential equations to determine them. As a Scientist differential equations is essential and it makes your math a lot easier when solving problems.

Discrete Math

While pursuing my undergraduate degree, I minored in mathematics and discrete mathematics was one of the elective courses I took to fulfill my minor.

Guitar

I have been playing guitar for the last 10 years and I and very well versed in music theory. While in high school as well as in college I was in orchestra and Jazz band for guitar. I also consistently compose guitar parts for my current band.

Linear Algebra

I have taken linear algebra for my chemistry major in undergraduate studies. I had used linear algebra in many higher level chemistry and physics courses, so I am very comfortable with the material. Linear algebra was especially useful in quantum mechanics for using halmiltonian operators. My experience includes vectors in multiple dimensions, matrix algebra, eigen functions and operators.

Organic Chemistry

I have a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and have studied organic extensively. I have taken organic chemistry as well as laboratory courses in my undergraduate studies and did well in those courses. I have also taken organic chemistry during my graduate studies. I am also a graduate assistant and one of the courses I TA is undergraduate organic chemistry so I am very well versed in the subject.
