About AmyLee

I come with 5+ years of tutoring experience that required dedication and positive commitment through my free time. I tutored college athletes in a D-II University setting throughout my collegiate career. As the lead tutor at The University of Central Missouri I was responsible for adhering to all NCAA regulations in regards to academic eligibility for all student-athletes. I helped guide 50+ athletes on their road to graduation by planning academic calendars for each student in which they were able to meet goals in the classroom. I was an advocate for each athlete in the classroom and on the field/court, as I assured they maintained balance between their academic and sports requirements. I successfully shared my organizational skills with each student-athlete and provided them with an environment in which they were able to benefit from their own successes.

I come to you with 7 solid and successful years of secondary teaching and varsity coaching. I have modeled a way for all secondary teachers to see the importance of setting high standards for our student-athletes at the high school level, so they are able to be successful through their academics at the collegiate level as well. I also privately tutored high school students over the summers in Missouri during my teaching career. I am currently working with teens at an alternative high school, and am blessed to help encourage them with goal setting skills for their future. I am the lead Math Teacher and also the tutoring coordinator for the school. As the tutoring coordinator, I work directly with a company to decide how we will team up with their tutors to design an appropriate and successful program for our students. I am a certified Google Educator and a Google Guide for the entire Leona Group Corporation. In those positions I have the opportunity to work with other staff members to ensure their success as the corporation transitions into using Google. As well as those positions, in my current environment I am a Senior Club Advisor, which includes administering a college/career assessment profile, steps to writing a resume, completing college applications and what is needed to apply to schools, along with going over what the FAFSA is and what is necessary to fill it out, we also talk about letters of recommendation helping students with all aspects once they graduate from high school. I have had the opportunity to help with student scheduling and also developing a strong online curriculum to gain success in and out of the classroom. I have completed numerous hours of professional development that keep my knowledge in the area of education current. I completed a 2-year technology program that gave me certification in all Microsoft Office programs along with web-browsing and internet safety. I use technology in my classroom daily and encourage the students to become comfortable with using available devices as well. I also teach test prep classes that help students strengthen their already developed skills, utilize their time management and enhance their study habits.

I have the ability to assist students in bringing out the skills they already possess to be successful in mathematics. I can turn the most challenging subject into a positive, exciting, and successful experience for all students! I have years of physical resources, as well as an abundant amount of technological materials to assist in the learning process.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I teach test preparation classes that help students strengthen their already developed skills, utilize their time management, and enhance their study habits. I have taught students how to thoroughly read and analyze test questions, along with learning how to eliminate 50% of multiple choice answers on test questions. I have 8 years of experience preparing high school students for state standardized tests, ACT tests, and SAT tests.

Algebra 1

I have taught this subject at the secondary level for 8 years. I had the opportunity to teach Algebra in a classroom of diverse learners and non-English speaking students in both a public high school setting and an alternative high school. I find that it is beneficial for most students to have a strong Algebra foundation to help them find success in other math classes.

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 2 at the high school level for 8 years. I mold my teaching style around the learning style of each student I work with. I have worked with younger students who are in advanced placement math classes, as well as juniors/seniors needing to meet graduation requirements. I have experience implementing Common Core curriculum. I have an abundant amount of resources that can be utilized for Algebra 2.

Elementary Math

I currently work with a program called Accelerated Math 2.0. This program is implemented at the high school level and helps students learn previous math skills that are missing. I teach common core 2nd-8th grade lessons that provide supplemental support for students to be successful in the Accelerated Math 2.0 program.

Geometry

I have taught Geometry at the high school level since 2009. I have taught common core Geometry, and project-based learning Geometry classes. Geometry is abstract and applies algebra concepts into many topic areas. I enjoy leading students to be successful in Geometry by utilizing skills they already possess. Geometry offers an opportunity for students to explore their creative abilities.

Microsoft Excel

I became certified in Microsoft Excel in 2011, after completing a 2 year technology program in Missouri. I still utilize this program and I also further assist adults in understanding how formulas can be added to help minimize time and frustrations on projects. I teach others how to use conditional formatting to display specific features in one step. Microsoft Excel has an abundant amount of options that can easily be grasped by all learners.

Microsoft Outlook

I completed a two-year technology certification program through Warrensburg School District 2009-2011 in which all Microsoft Office Programs were implemented.

Prealgebra

I currently teach a selection of prealgebra students. I have another client that I tutor in prealgebra as well. Prealgebra is a preview to the building blocks necessary for all of high school mathematics.

So happy

I'm so happy I made the decision to find a tutor for my daughter-- and that AmyLee is the one we found. A few months ago, my seventh grader was frustrated, discouraged and stressed as her math assignments became more challenging and her grades began to slip. After one session with AmyLee, her confidence returned and she began to understand the assignments. Thanks in large part to AmyLee, my dau
