While in the military and due to the lack of a professional to train our new soldiers in their military occupational specialty, (MOS-job skills), I assumed the responsibility of teaching classes for the soldiers. I discovered that I had the skills, dedication and knowledge to engage these soldiers in writing, reading and hands-on lessons providing them with the knowledge they needed to past certain tests and be skillful in their jobs. I learned two important facts: I loved teaching and I was good at it!
When I retired from the military, I decided to pursue a teaching career. During this time, I also founded and directed an after school tutoring program, called "WATCH," (What About the Children?). It was very successful as I was able to implement teaching strategies and academic skills that provided students with the tools to improve and expand their knowledge process. I currently teach high school and I know that I possess the knowledge, patience, understanding and compassion to teach and encourage students to reach their highest educational goals possible. This is evident in that I was selected, "Educator of the Year! 2015" by my current high school.
I speak, read and write in the German language. I taught German in the school year, 2014-2015 and was successful with most of my students being able to learn basic German.
I am available to students after 3:00 most days during the week and I am able to schedule weekends if necessary. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you to achieve your academic goals. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
