VanderCook College of Music (Vocal MusicEducation)
My name is Kelly, most of my students call me Kelly or Ms. Kelly. I have a great passion for music as is evident by my 9 years of teaching experience in vocal music education. I have experience with all ages, from a 3 year old wanting to play the piano to a 60 yr old trying to regain her vocal range. Though my background is in classical voice I am well aware of the techniques that are most popular today. I have had students of all kinds, jazz, gospel, classical, theatre, R&B and much more. My specialty and focus is always on vocal health and range. It's more important to have a healthy voice than to it is to be able to sing higher or lower. Without good vocal health habits you will not have the endurance to improve at all, so it's number one in my book.
While I do not play the piano very well I have also tutored my fair share of piano students. I may not play well but I can tell when someone is not playing the proper way. I, myself, have gone through several years of piano training...it just is not for me. However I'm a huge fan of helping other student succeed and excel in the art!
