I have 10+ years of teaching/tutoring experience, and hold a Bachelor of Music, a Master of Music, and a Post-Master's Certificate, all in flute performance. I have extensive performance experience and am an active chamber and free-lance musician in the Chicago and surrounding areas. I am comfortable teaching students of all ages and all levels, and specialize in audition/all-state/college-prep. My teaching philosophy is to work with what the student already has, improve upon areas that may be lacking, and above all, to inspire the student to follow their dreams and goals in music. Music must come from the heart. <3 Music is a uniquely personal experience and I am able to customize lessons and lesson plans to fit each student's individual needs. I am qualified not only to teach flute, but also beginning piano, theory, ear training, sight singing, music history, and general music. I am also able to incorporate any of these subjects alongside the flute lessons to allow the student to grow, not only in their playing, but also in their overall knowledge and understanding of music. I began studying music as a child, and now hold three degrees in music. Music is my love and my passion and it is my goal in life to inspire others to follow their dreams in music, whatever they may be. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding the subjects I am available to teach. I look forward to hearing from you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I had to take and pass several years of ear-training classes to obtain my music degrees (BM, MM, PMC). It is a skill I still use today on a regular basis. I feel confident in my abilities to continue teaching and tutoring students in this area.
I hold three degrees in flute performance from accredited universities; a BM from the University of Central Arkansas, a MM from the Conservatory at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and a Post Master's Certificate of Performance from DePaul University. I have been teaching private flute lessons for the past 10 years, and have been employed through several music schools, and music stores, including the community divisions at both Northern Arizona University, and the University of Central Arkansas.
