I first started playing guitar when I was fifteen, in a year long classical guitar course. At first learning the guitar seemed to be an insurmountable task, and I felt intimidated by the kids in the class who could deftly move their hands across the strings.
With the help of a teacher, I incrementally built up the motor skills necessary to play the guitar. Once I got a hold of the basics, I learned more advanced techniques, and eventually I developed my own style that borrowed from classical guitar, blues, folk, and rock.
Many beginning guitar students give up early on because they don't have enough structure and/or confidence to overcome obstacles. I was lucky to have guitar teachers who helped nurture my nascent skills. As a guitar teacher, I provide a safe container in which the student can feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and explore new possibilities. I believe that every student has the potential to become well versed enough in the guitar that she can develop her own style and have fun playing.
I have eight years of experience playing guitar, and I am passionate about teaching the instrument to others. I enjoy helping to unlock a student's potential and pointing her in the direction of guitar's infinite possibilities.
I am well practiced on the guitar, but I can easily remember the days when I was just beginning and my confidence wasn't as high. Because of that, I work to instill confidence in beginning guitar players.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
