About Teddy

I have spent years in both volunteer and paid capacities educating children. I have been a camp counselor at a marine science camp, which gave me experience working with children and assisting them in grasping complex concepts. I also have experience working with children and teens from my time assisting with religious education

I have informal tutoring experience from my time tutoring fellow students and my brother. I have formal experience working as a Jr. Tutor at the University of Chicago, where I was responsible for grading problem sets and explaining troubling concepts.

As a student at the University of Chicago, I have succeeded in Calculus sequence (Calculus 1-3) as well as studied Linear Algebra. In my second year I studied proof based math, including analysis and numerical analysis. In high school, I was a member of my schools math honor society, a competitor at mathematics competitions, and earned a 7/7 on the International Baccalaureate Mathematics SL test. I also have experience tutoring my brother in algebra and geometry as well as helping fellow students grasp math concepts. I also have a love of mathematical proofs and believe that intuition can be a powerful mathematical tour that should be fostered.

I have been a high achiever on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level History of the Americas exam (6/7), earned a 780/800 on the SAT Subject test in US History, as well as a strong competitor in the History Bee and Bowl, the US History Bee, and the Volusia County Social Studies Bowl. I also have a deep love for learning and sharing history.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
