About Tu

I get a unique sense of thrill and satisfaction from helping students on their journeys of self-improvement. As someone who is currently in a doctoral program, I am familiar with how commitment to learning can pay off. I have worked as an academic tutor for universities, and also privately for several years. As a result, I have have the pleasure of seeing firsthand students realizing their own potential with improvements in grades and test scores. Truly, being a tutor has only ever been a rewarding experience.

I specialize in tutoring maths and sciences K-12 for success school and on exams. I have specifically tutored Algebra 1 level math for the past 3 years. As a science major, the principles of algebra have often been visited in my university education. I like to integrate as much self-learning as possible in how I tutor by asking questions that stimulate deduction.

I have completed a full year of organic chemistry with top grades and scored between 75-85% on the National ACS Organic Chemistry Exam. As a Biochemistry major, the principles of organic chemistry are a salient part of my education. I have also tutored this specific subject for the past 2 years.

The mission regardless of the subject is to stimulate the student towards intellectual independence. I like to assign homework to reinforce the lessons, and give assessments or progress reports along the way.

I believe self-improvement is a dynamic process and so I often seek feedback. With progress being the goal, I believe payments for lessons should be informed by such indications.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Biology

As someone who will soon be starting professional school to become a doctor, the tenets of biology have been carried close. I have studied exhaustively living organisms in their structures, functions, growth, and evolution. I have shared my embrace of this natural science as a tutor for several years now at my university, helped students in a wide range of competency and in multiple specific disciplines.

Biostatistics

Having taken Genetics, additional senior level biology courses, and 2 years of university level math has given me a strong foundation for how to organize scientific data into valuable metrics. I have also taken Biostatistics with the final course grade of "A". This course can be conquered if early effort to addressing you weakness are made.

Chemistry

I am graduating with a Biochemistry degree after having taken the National Organic Chemistry ACS, Biochemistry ACS exams, and professional school entrance exam with top marks. I have also tutored in the general sciences and specifically chemistry at the college level for the past several years. Upper and underclassmen with a wide range of competencies have sought help and experienced improvements after having sessions with me.

Genetics

Studying Biochemistry has allowed me to fully visualize and appreciate the mechanisms of inheritance and expression explored in Genetics. I have taken Genetics and received top marks. Additionally, I have taken a professional school entrance exam and performed at the highest level in the Genetics section.

Organic Chemistry

I have completed a full year of organic chemistry with top grades and scored between 80-90% on the National ACS Organic Chemistry Exam. As a Biochemistry major, the principles of organic chemistry are a salient part of my education. I have also tutored this specific subject for the past 2 years.

Prealgebra

The more math subjects you master, the more job opportunities you will be able to handle. I have great confidence in my abilities to help you. If you are having difficulties with your Pre-algebra course work, it is never too soon to get the help you need to excel.

Trigonometry

I have spent 6 years privately tutoring in mathematics from 7th grade competency to college undergraduates. And I am a current Doctoral student at the Illinois College of Optometry.
