Southern University and A & M College (Spanish)
I have always had a love for learning languages and traveling. My father would always tell me when I was little that I should learn a second language and I did just what he said.
I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish at Southern University and A & M College in Baton Rouge, LA. During my undergraduate studies, I studied abroad in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico. I was immersed into the culture by living with a host family which only spoke Spanish.
After I graduated college, I moved to Spain and lived there for three years. I lived in a small region called La Rioja for two years and worked as an English teaching assistant. I had the opportunity to work in public and private schools ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school.
Later, I went on to live in Madrid and continued working as a teaching assistant in a small town high school. Throughout these years, I spent my evenings teaching private lessons in the homes of my students (both children and adults). I continued to gain experience by working at private academies and summer camps.
I currently work as a bilingual family advocate with a children and family center and love having the opportunity of doing my job in English and Spanish. I embrace learning languages and about different cultures and would love the chance to work with people to help them with their journey, whatever it may be.
I have four years of teaching English as a second language in both Mexico and Spain. I have taught all ages from pre-kindergarten to seniors.
Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have on the lessons. I look forward to working with you on your language learning journey. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have experience teaching English as a second language in two countries. I have taught all ages from toddlers to older adults. I have worked in primary and secondary schools. Also, I have taught private lessons to students preparing for language exams.
