About Sona

The way my parents (who are engineers) were taught math and science has always helped me succeed in every aspect of my education. I have taken the ACT, SAT, GRE and the GMAT, and may soon take the LSAT. I tutored privately and publicly (at the busiest Kumon Center in Naperville), for more than 6 years. Before that, I worked at the DuPage Children's Museum for more than 7 years. I graduated from Naperville Central, and know the school system well.

My bachelor's degrees are from UIC (biology and psychology), and my master's degree is in public health. I currently work as a healthcare consultant.

I love to read, and have an affinity for the classics. I'm able to adapt to any situation, and have experience teaching and working with children of many backgrounds. My brother has a form of autism, and I know that trying to find a tutor who can handle this can be difficult. Please let me know if you are interested! Thank you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I tutored at Kumon, where math was my forte. This included: graphing, inequalities, and logarithmic functions!
