About Beatrice

My name is Beatrice, and I have been tutoring for SAT reading and writing and college application essays for the past five years. For the past three years, I worked as a tutor for the Palo Alto Art Studio helping ESL students write strong, relevant statements for college applications to match their innovative art portfolios. I have also worked as an SAT I and SAT II Reading and Writing tutor for the past five years. My interest in joining the WyzAnt community is to tutor students who wish to fortify their college applications by putting their own thoughts, experiences, and values onto paper in the way that best reflects their own character development. Many of the students who have benefited from my assistance have gone onto prestigious art schools such as RISD, CalArts, and SAIC while others have enrolled at prominent liberal arts colleges and universities such as Carnegie Mellon, UCLA, UIC, and Amherst College. Testimonies are available once personal contact and interest is made by prospective clients.

About me: I am a graduate student at Northwestern University with an MA in Media Culture and Communication from NYU and BAs in International Studies and Communication from UC San Diego. English is my first language, and I speak Portuguese and Spanish fluently. I am currently out of coursework and am moving onto my dissertation project, which is a large writing project on its own. I am often described as warm, open, clever with words, and a free association thinker. For fun, I like to do bikram yoga, visit museums, and attend live concerts.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I have been teaching the college-level public speaking class at Northwestern University to mostly engineering and sciences (STEM) based classrooms since 2013 until the present. A syllabus, CV, and further references can be provided upon request.
