I have completed both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in the study of history. My focus as an undergraduate dealt with American and European history, with emphasis given 20th century conflicts. My undergraduate thesis, which dealt with American foreign relations with Spain between the years of the Spanish Civil War, won an award and was also published within a university publication. My master's degree dealt more so with European political and economic history. My dissertation for my master's dealt with constructions of personal identity among the Irish volunteers for Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War. The research involved was immense, and even took me to archives and collections housed in Dublin and Limerick, Ireland. While at graduate school I took courses in: research and methodology, 19th century Irish political history, economic and social theories and their historical applications, modern British political history, architectural history, and constructions of identity.
I have previously taught American culture and English language courses at Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing, China, and am TESL (Teach English as a Second Language) certified.
