Amherst College (History)
I have a college degree in US and European History. I also have 3+ years of classroom and ESL experience from teaching abroad in South Korea. During my time there, I did special tutoring assignments in addition to my classroom teaching duties. I have taught a variety of age levels, from Primary/Elementary School to High School.
My teaching style is somewhat unorthodox, but effective. I try not to lecture as I find it ineffective. Instead I used the Socratic method of using questions to answer other questions. This way, I relate the material to students and they are interacting with it.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
