As a dedicated teacher, I want to prepare my students for real world applications. To that endeavor, for the past 7 years I have strived to inspire my students to reach their academic goals in math and the visual arts each school year. I currently teach in an urban school in the city of Chicago, where our state tests scores have made the biggest gains within the district in math and science. Our art program, which I run as the school arts liaison, is considered a Level 5 ARTs program, which is the highest level to achieve for arts funding and programming within Chicago Public Schools. The art program prepares our middle school students for elective arts in high school and beyond secondary education.
I will design a tailored curriculum in math and art to tutor you and or your students, which will have measurable assessments that will help you achieve your academic goals. The lessons developed for you will help you in the NWEA and the new PARCC testing that most schools in Chicago will use in the coming new school year. In addition, the teaching strategies I will employ are based on Doug Lemov's signature 5 teaching strategies and the Danielson Framework. These educational systems have only been in place district wide for the past two years, I have 5 years using these very effective strategies. I look forward to working with you in the very near future. As a dedicated teacher, I want to prepare my students for real world applications. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
