I have been a tutor for only a year, but I love helping students learn. My background is in photography. I was previously a Medical Photographer. I have been a teaching artist for youth for 15 years. I have had numerous photography exhibitions. I have also received numerous arts grants from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Since 1999, I have been listed on the Illinois Arts Council Arts-in-Education Artist Roster. I have been employed as a tutor for Brain Hurricane and Sylvan Learning Centers. I therefore have had an extensive background check for those organizations.
I specialize in tutoring reading, writing and spelling. I want to challenge students to achieve their best potential. I love working with youth. I received an excellent high school and college education. . Speaking and writing well is important. I want to make a difference in the lives of the students that I come in contact with and hopefully make them successful students. I prefer working in the City of Chicago, but will travel to nearby Suburbs if that would be more convenient for students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
