Loyola University Chicago (Elementary Math Ed.)
Hi, my name is Michelle and I am a 4th grade teacher in Chicago. I am a 2nd year, licensed educator with a degree in Elementary Mathematics Education. I received my degree at Loyola University of Chicago. I am looking forward to more tutoring opportunities to help individuals or small groups get the support they need to succeed in the classroom!
Each tutoring lesson will be interactive and inquiry based! By doing so, your child will demonstrate higher levels of focus and interest leading to success and a love of learning! I will supply all the materials that I believe will provide the best support for your child's learning. Prior to our first meeting, I would like to discuss goals for your child`s academic growth and I will then form a plan to reach them. I kindly ask that when canceling, you provide a 6 hour notice however, I understand that things come up!

I am more than happy to discuss my hourly rate! The hourly rate is per individual student.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a fourth grade teacher with my license in elementary math education. I have taught 3rd, 5th, and 4th grade. In clinical work, I also completed work in a 1st and 2nd grade classroom expanding my knowledge on the development of a child`s education from year to year. I have professional experience using multiple strategies to differentiate for students and best achieve the needs of each child, even it if is in a classroom of 32!
I am a licensed elementary mathematics educator, with my endorsement in mathematics. I have taught in classrooms of multiple grade levels ranging from 2nd to 6th grade! I have spent a minimum of four months in each of these classrooms teaching all subject areas and learning new methods! I love creating interactive lessons to make learning more interesting for students.
I use multiple strategies revolving around fine motor skills to best support handwriting instruction. After working with students at multiple grade levels, I have observed many core reasons why students struggle with handwriting. For some, they need to develop fine motor skills and work with other manipulative and some simply need more practice! It is my goal to understand why the child is struggling in this area to best support their growth.
I have taught multiple phonics lessons to a second grade classroom for a period of two months. To teach phonics I used the method of inquiry. I learned that students better understood phonics when they were given one example, and then created examples of their own by relating the two words. I loved teaching phonics, and I found that students enjoyed this method.
