Northeastern Illinois University (Spanish Bachelor Art)
Greetings to all. I have graduated recently from Northeastern Illinois University, where I majored in Spanish and also got a minor in Anthropology. I am a native Spanish speaker. I am very proud to be Hispanic and feel very passionate towards learning and telling others (peers, family and fellow students) about history, culture, anthropology and archaeology. I have studied abroad in Spain for a full semester, which was a fun and unique experience.
Having several academic experiences myself I would like to emphasize the importance of group work, study groups, volunteering and among other common areas. In terms of group work, it is always important to fairly distribute the work load between your fellow group members; it is also CRUCIAL to establish communications on a regular basis with your fellow group members in order to assure the progress of the work for an assignment in groups is going well or to address any sort of problems if any with a given subject.
In terms of study groups it is always a great idea to have a study group, as you may never know if your fellow students may have the same questions/doubts regarding any material from past lectures, exams, assignments/projects. When preparing for exams, I found this to be most useful in order to get a better understanding on the material on an upcoming exam as well as help others that might not understand any part of the material being tested on.
In terms of my tutoring skills, I provide help to those students attempting to learn the Spanish language. Remembering the intensity and seriousness of doing research papers as a student, I always follow a set of core rules:
I-Starting research papers on a set of specific ideas, while making a list of points in relation to the topic of research. In addition, to starting research ahead of time in order to do good work for the assignment itself.
II-When research has commenced, I would always speak with the instructor in order to verify that the research being conducted is good, or if the current progress of the research and ideas related to the topic of research need to be improved/changed.
III-Once the research paper is on the final stages, I would go over the material of research myself, in order to ensure the text is well-organized and if it is addressing the topic properly.
IV-Lastly, I would speak with the instructor in order for the research to be reviewed one final time, in order to be sure that the research paper itself is done well or if it would need any corrections.
Depending on the needs of the students I tutor, I follow the next few points; whether it be learning Spanish or if helping with research papers or such similar assignments:
1-It would be a good idea for the student to have all related materials for the subject he/she needs assistance with: course syllabus, assignment instructions, ideas the student has in regards to any assignments, a study plan/study guide for an exam, any recent work in regards to the assignment the student needs help with in order for me to supervise and provide suggestions on ideas.
2-I can provide/lend the student with: study resources, reliable online resources for studying and books. I will prepare practice exercises in order to help the student improve in his/her area(s) of difficulties.
3-In terms of learning Spanish I can help in the following ways: practicing written Spanish, conversational Spanish and reading exercises.

I keep getting excellent feedback from my son. Michael is patient, provides appropriate homework, and remains relevant to the classroom activities.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I got my B.A. (Bachelor of Arts) in Spanish from Northeastern Illinois University. I am a native Spanish speaker.
