Arizona State University (Elementary Education)
I am a graduate from Arizona State University with a BAE in Elementary Education K-8th grade with an Illinois teaching license. I passed the Test of Academic Proficiency, K-8th grade content area test and Professional Teaching exam. My experience with exams has helped me become highly effective in test preparation.
I taught second grade for one year at a public school and three years of preschool. I've had the amazing opportunity to teach diverse groups of students, including those with special needs, English language learners, gifted students and diverse learners. As a result, I have become proficient in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of every learner by using techniques such as: small group reteach, effective academic feedback, hands on activities, active learning and engaging lessons. I use student data from activities and tests to plan curriculum. This method allows me to determine student mastery. If the students do not meet mastery, then I reteach using different methods until every student achieves mastery of the learning objective.
I'm passionate about teaching children of all ages. My favorite part of teaching is discovering how a student learns best, and then watching that student blossom. It warms my heart to witness a student feeling confident in the subject that they were once struggling with. I believe that every student is capable of successfully learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
