About Joji

Hello, my name is Joji. I am passionate in computer programming specially Java and Open Source Software. Back in 2000 I was teaching assistant at Oklahoma State University for Introductory Java classes. I assisted many students with their course works. After I graduated, I've worked in various industries since 2001 as software developer. Now I am here to help you learning design, writing, debugging, testing in Java programming language.

I am more than happy to tutor at any skill levels. If you are a student in high-school or college and need some help on programming classes, that's great! I can explain how to approach solving algorithmic problems, then apply the solution to design and implementing working computer programs (Java).

Perhaps you are not student any more. You are working and considering to switch your career to become a professional programmer. I have few co-workers who recently changed their career to software and are doing very well. I'm more than happy to help you to make this transition successfully. I am able to not only share my programming skills, but also I'd love to share some of my work-related stories as a software developer.

I am proficient in Java language but also familiar with the other technologies such as MySQL databases, git source control, shell scripting, maven build tool, tomcat web servers, linux OS and HTML.

I am currently full-time software developer at Chicago based software start-up company. And, I would like to spend my after hours tutoring you.

Looking forward to working with you soon.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Java

I started Java programming at the time Java 1.0 was released in 90s. I was teaching assistant at University during I was student for two years.

After completing my master's degree, I have worked on various industries as a professional software developer.

I speak 3 languages during a day: English, Japanese, and Java.

Linux

I have been using Linux OS as my main personal desktop computer since 2006.

Also, my chose Linux OS for my work laptop for the current job (1.5 years).

I would like to help a student to understand develop software applications on Linux OS.

Also, I like to tutor a student by introducing many useful Linux commands and shell scripting.

Simply put, I just love to share my Linux passion.

If you don't know how to do something, he will go over it in many different ways until you really understand that something really well, won't give up, and consistently teaches a ton of new things, whether he goes by his plan or yours. There really isn't anything that he does not know how to do in Java or Linux, unless it is a really rare case that he hasn't seen before(not likely though.) In just
