Columbia College (Audio Engineering)
I have studied the guitar for close to twenty years. For fifteen years I have taught students of all ages and various skill levels. I currently instruct at two music schools in the region, and additionally I conduct Pre-K music classes at multiple day care centers.
My teaching style is tailored to the needs and goals of study for each individual student and addresses both the mechanical as well as theoretical aspects of guitar performance, as well as music in general in an age appropriate manor.
When starting lessons with a student I first evaluate their mechanical competency with the instrument and begin working with the student in various techniques to expand their range and complexity of movement while simultaneously incorporating material into these exercises from artists and styles that the student expresses the most interest in. Additionally my approach includes activities that will develop the student's understanding of music theory in regards to both their instrument, and the interplay between their instrument and the others in an ensemble. My primary goals are to open pathways of thought and technique, unseen by the student, allowing that student to learn the guitar not just by my instruction, but by their own practice. Furthermore I aim to develop the student's knowledge to the point that they can more capably and confidently interact with other musicians.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
