About Adam

I can help you or your child improve your skill, test scores, and grades in any high school subject with high-impact after-school practice exercises. If you'd find a print resumé more convenient, Just ask for my resumé... it's available on request. I look forward to hearing from you and will do what I can to help you (or your child) achieve great success!

I worked last year as a Chemistry Teacher in one of the best school districts in the world. My primary students last year were extraordinarily gifted 15 - 16 year olds at one of Shanghai's two best schools, the famed No. 2 ECNU, a school that modestly ranks in the top 10 in all of China. Think China's Stuyvesant, or China's Eton. I taught 10th Grade Pre-AP Chemistry to students who were bound for university studies in the United States' top schools.

I can work with any part of the skill spectrum in any core curriculum subject, and carry eligibility to teach in classrooms in Ohio and Florida, and many other States. I have additionally been credentialed to teach in any subject as a long-term substitute teacher as well for up to five days, with an emphasis on chemistry and life sciences. I am accomplished at teaching students based on state content standards, building from where you are at today to get you to where you need to be for tomorrow and can tutor you in almost any academic subject, from Honors English to AP Chemistry.

My scores are consistently in the top 1-5% on the SAT, ACT, AP, and MCAT, and I can help you advance your own scores nearer to that mark with techniques that have stood the test of time.

My first Degree was completed at The University of Chicago in the Fundamental Issues, Fundamental Texts program, a mixture of literature, philosophy, and classics. I returned to school more recently in 2010 to study the Core Sciences at The University of Pennsylvania (Chemistry, Physics, and Biology), mathematics (Calculus) through UC Berkeley Extension, and Statistics and Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University. This extensive coursework is the reason I am qualified to tutor in practically any subject, with greatest emphasis on the sciences.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

Chemistry is actually my deepest subspecialty. To be brief, I have taught the material in General Chemistry from front to back for The Princeton Review and as a high school chemistry teacher in one the world's finest high schools. I can help you succeed in General Chemistry, Honors or Advanced Chemistry, AP Chemistry, the SAT II Chemistry Subject Test, and for College Students wanting to go to Medical School, the General Chemistry Portions of the MCAT Exam.

In terms of my own educational history, I finished Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University with a solid A, and scored strong A marks in all chemistry courses at Penn that lead up to honorable passage past Biochemistry.

I'm licensed or license-eligible for most public schools in the country, and I have taught as a full-time Chemistry teacher in Shanghai, in one of the schools that breeds Chemistry Olympiad Gold Medal Winners and the finest chemistry talent in China. For those of you who are Premed College Students, I've taught General Chemistry for The Princeton Review Courses as well.

I would love to work with you as your Chemistry Coach, no matter your starting level, whether it be High School General Chemistry or "Last Minute" MCAT Prep, and everything between. I firmly believe that anyone, given time and dedication, is capable of dramatic improvement in their understanding of Chemistry.

MCAT

I scored in the top 5% of test-takers (36) on the MCAT in January 2011. Since then, I've continued with Biochemistry coursework, and can tutor students in any MCAT section.

Patient and Knowledgeable Tutor

Nice guy. He assisted me in studying for an exam, and I came away with a much better and cleaner understanding of what had been just letters and numbers beforehand.
