I am an experienced math educator with over forty years of experience. I have taught mathematics in the classroom and math test preparation for college entrance exams. I have trained thousands of teachers in the United States including almost every state. I have trained American teachers in England, Spain, and Saudi Arabia. I have also spoken at math conferences throughout the United States. My publishing experience includes the development of many major mathematics textbooks. I have played a part in the overall design and structure of these materials and have been involved in the writing of many of them.
My approach to tutoring is to work with students so they have a lasting understanding of mathematics. I search for the root of their misunderstandings, so I can help them build a lasting foundation. I have worked with many excellent mathematicians and learning theorists and use many of their ideas in my work. Because of this I treat each student differently finding the ways in which they learn best. I use visuals and models to let students actually manipulate the concepts. My methods involve constant interaction and feedback from the student.
If you are interested in helping your child in a lasting and meaningful way I would be interested in working with him or her.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
