Before returning to school, I spent a couple years nannying and doing a service year with City Year Denver, where I provided academic and behavioral support in a 3rd grade classroom. My favorite and best subject is math, but I also have a very strong background in many sciences, and am additionally very comfortable supporting elementary and middle school-level literacy. My style is laid back and conversational, while I am patient, fun, and understanding of each child's individual learning techniques. I hope to make each tutoring session enjoyable and interesting and not as if the student is sitting through more school. I try and come prepared with many different ways to approach a topic to ensure full understanding.

I currently work in a 3rd grade classroom in an elementary school in Denver supporting behaviorally in addition to teaching small groups in math and literacy. Additionally, I have been a mentor/tutor for 5th graders in Science Club for Girls. I am most comfortable supporting in math as it was one of my favorite subjects growing up, but I have learned many new strategies this year to support with English, reading, and other elementary literacy-related subjects.

Elementary Math

I have always loved math. In elementary school, it was one of the only subjects I actually understood. In middle school I was on the math team. In high school, I took all types of different math courses, including both AP Calc AB and BC which I got a 5 and a 4 respectively. I was also a math peer tutor at my high school. At Northeastern University, I am currently enrolled in Biostatistics.

I've taken many different math courses, including both AP Calc AB and BC in which I got a 5 and a 4 respectively. I took an honors Algebra 2 course my sophomore year of high school, but it is math I've been using in classes ever since! Since I did peer tutoring in high school, Algebra 2 was the most common subject with which I was tutoring. At Northeastern University, I am currently enrolled in Biostatistics.
