California State University, Los Angeles (Mathematics)
Hi! I am a licensed Math teacher with 3 years teaching experience in public schools and 10+ years tutoring experience with students of all ages and abilities. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a focus on Math Education.
I have helped many students accomplish things in math they thought would never happen. Students have come to me with a hatred of math and feelings of hopelessness, and left with the joys of success and accomplishment.
I fully believe that ALL students are capable of finding success in mathematics. I delight in walking besides students as they grow in their knowledge of and confidence in math. No student is hopeless in my book.
I am available for one-time sessions or consistent or inconsistent help throughout the year. I am also available for home-schooled students in need of a structured plan through a course. Hi! Christine taught me word problems and operations. She is very nice and patient. She has helped me accomplish confidence. I will definitely refer her to anyone that needs math tutoring for any test.
Love working with Christine! Knowledgeable, patient, and doesn't make me feel bad if I can't remember how to do a certain problem. Comes prepared to help me learn and thinks of different ways to help me understand. I look forward to working with her more and would highly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught hundreds of students how to work through math that now has letters. My students have seen incredible success on classroom exams, as well as standardized tests.
Algebra 2 is one of my favorite subjects to teach/tutor. I love walking with students from the basic to the complex and watching them shine.
My high school Geometry teacher was far from a great teacher. He threw some notes on the board and gave us problems to work through. Therefore, I had to teach myself Geometry. I have since mastered the subject and taught it to many high school students with great success. I have found creative and fun ways to teach Geometry that are very far removed from the experience I had.
Pre-Algebra is a critical step on the journey to higher math. This is when a lot of students get lost and give up. I have had a lot of success with students who thought they just could not get math anymore. If your student is starting to struggle, it is vital to get them caught up before years pass and they are convinced math is impossible. I would love to guide them through this rough spot and set them up for years of success and confidence in math.
