Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have obtained my Type 3 Teaching Certificate in the state of Illinois. As a result of obtaining this certification, which remains current, I took and passed the Illinois Basic Skills Test, Content 110 and APT certification tests. Also know that I took and passed the Illinois state Math Content Test (test number 115).

Finally, I have previous experience tutoring students from pre-kindergarten through college age.

Logic

I understand the basics of LOGIC including the different patterns of modus ponens (take the positive), modus tollens (take the negative) and syllogisms (cancel statements).

I am also familiar with the creating the components required for truth tables to determine logical equivalence of statements. This includes demonstrating the validity of DeMorgan's Law.
