About John

I have five years of experience teaching and tutoring English (and reading) at the junior college level. In addition, I have taught all courses from basic writing to composition (10 page MLA papers). I can help you pass your exit exams, and also help you to complete your ten page papers in MLA, APA, or CMS style. Furthermore, I have tutored all types of students (in English). I have tutored students (helping to improve their English) in the following subjects: Psychology, Biology, American History, European History, English, English as a Second Language, Business, Anthropology, Economics and more. Furthermore, I have a great deal of experience helping ESL students improve their English--specifically their article usage (a, an, the, no article needed etc.) and their preposition use. In addition, I have an extensive knowledge of basketball, baseball, golf, and track and field. I was a reasonably accomplished high school athlete (four years of track and two years of football at a top tier IHSA school with an average enrollment of over 4000 students at the time of my attendance). I am friendly, enjoy helping people, and I'm very results-oriented. I majored in History at two top-notch schools as an undergraduate), and I majored in English literature in graduate school. Furthermore, I have taken graduate course work in Chaucer, Poe, Malory, Shakespeare, Hemingway, T.S. Eliot, Southern Literature, Faulkner, The English Novel, Modernist Works, Shelley, Coleridge and more. At the undergraduate level, I have coursework in European History, American History, Polish History, History of Medicine, Calculus I, 300 Level Statistics, Russian History, English history, Economics and more. Lastly, I have an extensive customer service background that I use to put the customer (the student) first. I also have very high standards for both myself and my students. I like to have fun while teaching, and I try to make learning enjoyable. I have five years of experience teaching and tutoring English (and reading) at the junior college level.
