As a career changer and single mother, I have a wealth of experience to share with you and your child. I have lived in Michigan as well as Illinois. I am a patron of the arts, enjoy reading, exercise, writing, baking and crossword puzzles.
I am an avid supporter of experiential learning. As trite as it may sound, life is the best teacher for the reflective practitioner. My lifelong learning includes sales, the hospitality industry, coaching, volunteering, hospice work, real estate, teaching and insurance.
I earned my undergrad degree from DePaul University’s School of New Learning and my master’s at the College of Education of DePaul.
As part of the Exclusive Agent Entrepreneurial Initiative at Allstate Insurance, I completed the Allstate Business Management and Sales Training Program which included underwriting, sales and business management. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I earned my bachelors of art from DePaul University with an individualized focus in education. I completed my Masters of Education at DePaul and currently hold two Illinois educational licenses, one for elementary education (type 03) and the other is for learning behavior specialist (type 10). I have been a private tutor specializing in literacy skills for over five years.
I completed the dual certificate program at DePaul University studying elementary and special education. I currently hold two Illinois education licenses: elementary education (type 03) and learning behavior specialist (type 10). I've taught all subjects in a cross-categorical, self-contained, mixed grade classroom (grades 1st-3rd).
