Hi, thank you for visiting my page. My name is Eldra, and I recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s degree in Sociology. I have extensive experience in higher education and engage a variety of teaching and tutoring styles specific to the learner. I have taught four semesters of college courses to a broad range of students, which included tutoring sessions to aid their apprehension of the material. I like to work with the learner to develop an appropriate tutoring strategy to achieve the student’s desired goal(s). My pedagogical experiences at the University of Michigan have provided me significantly relevant knowledge in teaching subjects such as Reading, Writing, Grammar, and a range of others.
Spanish Tutoring: I have been enrolled in Spanish courses throughout my academic career, from junior year of high school until the end of my undergraduate education (over 9 years of experience). I received my B.A. in International Studies and Spanish from the University of Mississippi. During this time, I spent a year abroad between Ecuador and Mexico where I lived with a host family, completed an internship (in which Spanish was the only understood language), and took courses in Spanish linguistics and Latin American culture. Thus, I speak, write, and read Spanish at an advanced proficiency level and also have spent significant time in two Spanish-speaking countries. These experiences give me a pedagogical advantage in that I understand how the dynamics of immersion can aid a student's capacity to learn the language.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information. I look forward to tutoring you or your child! Hi, thank you for visiting my page. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
