Arizona State University (Math, Finance)
My name is Kenneth Q. I attended Arizona State University and the Barrett Honors College, where I majored in math, finance, and economics. After graduation, I worked in Virginia for two years for a Fortune 500 life insurance company as an actuary. I have recently obtained my Fellow of Society of Actuaries certification in Quantitative Finance, and am now working as a quantitative developer for a top risk management consulting firm in downtown Chicago.
I have four years of tutoring experience at Arizona State. I first worked as a math tutor at Arizona State for two years, and then transitioned into a role as a finance and math teaching assistant. As a teaching assistant, I would run review sessions for students to help prepare them for their math and finance exams. Tutoring has always been something I have been passionate about, as I love to explain problems and help people understand difficult concepts. I would love to help you get a better grade in whatever class you are taking! My name is Kenneth Q. Super precise tutor. Shame he is leaving town next week after his graduation. Would have liked to have used him a lot more.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently work as a consulting actuary for global leader in risk management in Chicago. I recently obtained my F.S.A. designation through the QFI track, and can help tutor any of the SOA preliminary exams. I am not far removed from the actuary exams, and would be happy to help any actuarial-degree seeking student.
I am qualified to tutor Computer Science because I have four years of programming experience. I first learned about computer science when I took the AP Computer Science AB test in high school. I learned about Java, loops, and abstract data types when taking the course, and scored a 5 on the AP Exam. Since then, I have programmed in SAS and Matlab in school and at work.
When I was in high school, I did many SAT math problems and have carried the material I learned from SAT math to today. I am very familiar with the content of the SAT math exam, and would love to help students understand the structure of the SAT while at the same time developing a meaningful comprehension of the math concepts.
