Hello! My name is Christina, and I am a tutor and writing coach with both franchise and private tutoring experience.
I have worked at franchise tutoring centers for going on 10 years, and I have proven results in particular with students K-8 in all subjects (including MAP, OLSAT, and other entrance testing), and English and Reading help for SAT/ACT prep, AP/IB coursework, and college entrance/scholarship essays.
I recently completed my Master's in English from DePaul University. My undergraduate degree is from the University of Texas at Arlington, where my major was English with a minor in cultural anthropology.
I speak Spanish fluently and learned French in school.
My flexible schedule and lesson plans allow students to learn conveniently and have fun doing it! My friendly approach makes sessions enjoyable, not a chore. Their parents see the results on a daily basis in their schoolwork.
Whether it's getting ahead or catching up, wrapping up an essay or prepping for a test, I have the experience and knowledge base to help you approach it with confidence.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Rates change depending on the location and study materials.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed my minor in anthropology at the University of Texas at Arlington. I finished with a 3.8 GPA in my minor. My emphasis was in Cultural Anthropology, so my courses included basic archaeology in addition to urban and international topics, including educational differences and how to reconcile them. I have tutored my fellow classmates in this subject. It is most helpful, I have found, to put the information into a relevant context of time and location, so that it feels more relevant and natural (and thereby easier to understand).
I have worked independently and with a franchise tutoring center with students of these age groups in all core subjects, including math through geometry, English (writing and reading skills), social studies, and science. Privately I have helped students with anything from getting ahead in problem subjects such as math over the summer session, to helping prepare for that big test during the semester and working specifically on homework and problem areas.
I've worked as as SAT Writing tutor for 4 years.
